What is the GLO-JO?
GLO-JO is a distinct helmet mounted illumination device designed specifically for firefighters and emergency workers alike. It is a unique patented illumination device that can be seen from long distances in low visibility conditions or complete darkness (haze, fog, or smoke). How GLO-JO came about…
GLO-JO is a device that was developed by a professional firefighter for firefighters. The leading cause of death among firefighters while working in a structure fire typically begins with firefighter disorientation. From this disorientation a deadly combination of things can happen. Problems caused by low visibility due to smoke and lack of lighting is an issue that continues to be resolved through advancements in various types of personal alert safety systems or P.A.S.S. Devices.
The GLO-JO Helmet Band and its unique illumination is a clear example of the advancement in P.A.S.S. Device technology. Although non-audible, the illumination of this system aims to serve as a practical means of ensuring firefighter orientation.
